Another unique feature is that a resource card can buy a development card and this is important because each card gives a distinct advantage to the Settler and it creates a new development which advances the holder closer to victory in the game! There are some parts of the Island that the Settlers will desire more as they are prime locations and once attained by a Settler, they can capitalise on their success by trading with a bank at a 2-1 or even 3-1 ratio!

As each settlement is a point, the objective is to build as many of these as possible and once a settlement is upgraded to city status, the points double. Points are also awarded for record breaking activities like building the longest road or developing the largest army. The first Settler to attain 10 points wins the game.
